Evening Thundershower Possible

It’s been a rather cloudy week thus far, but we were able to break out the sunshine today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed during the afternoon with increased surface heating. These storms will fade tonight as we cool off. More of the same can be expected on Friday. Weekend weather looks nice, with a lingering shower possible on Saturday, then dry and cooler/less humid for the conclusion of the weekend.

Forecast Discussion

The remnants of Bertha have moved northward and out of our region, which yielded control of the region to weak high pressure. The result was more sunshine, warmer temperatures, and the development of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Showers and storms will fade as we head int the overnight hours.

A cold front approaches from the west on Friday and moves through on Saturday. Most of the energy for showers and thunderstorms will precede the frontal passage, so we think the best coverage of scattered rainfall will be on Friday, with not much happening on Saturday.

Behind the front, we will have a delightful multi-day stretch of quiet weather. Temperatures will actually run several degrees below average during Sunday into Tuesday, followed by a warm-up thereafter.
